Release Notes: 29 August 2002

What's New:

  • Relational Integrity System- monitoring changes in your system
  • Full Auto Scanning
  • waVe will scan and build a integrity database of your system upon initial start of waVeGui
  • Danger file and duplicate file checking added to integrity system which is configurable from the administration window.
  • Additional report file showing all files scanned when virus scans are executed through the administration window.
  • New scan engine and signature structure for faster performance.
  • Additional button added to the administration option to view the last logs generated.

New Features:

  • New graphical user interface (waVeGui)
  • New version of MacFilter 4.0 with no ghost

Known Bugs that were Fixed:

  • 256 color compatible skins
  • When attempting to disinfect macro-virus infected MS-Office files, the MacGui may falsely report that infection has failed.
  • Scan of temp files and clean up of temp files if scan stopped during a zip scan.
  • DoEverything Mode was broken.
  • File Integrity process never executed and wave would hang. This was also the case when called from waVeCron.
  • Uninstall of waveCron when active on a Windows 9x or ME system.
  • Scan time would continue to increment if the DoEverything process was halted due to a virus detected on the system.
  • Added better Windows message processing to core functionality.
  • Better stop functionality added to the scan and file integrity process.
  • Minor Gui adjustments
  • Windows NT 4 Service pack checking at install time.
  • Additional error messaging in waVecron
  • WaVe gui process remained in the task bar after the exit button was pressed. This was also seen when called from waVecron.
  • Virus signature displayed with garbage in scan window
  • Improved documentation
  • Error in generating and displaying reports
  • Failure of waVe if installed on another drive except "C:\"
  • Better handling and processing of Microsoft Windows(R) messaging during all runtime modes.

Known Limitations:

  • The Integrity baseline directories may grow quite large, a logical work around for this issue is to add another physical disk drive or free up space on existing disk drive.
  • Progress is being made towards a more optimal and robust virus database. Arbitrary termination of the VGui application or Background Process may leave temporary files in the system temporary directory. waVeGui with a system setting of large fonts distorts the gui display. RMMonitor efficiency.
